Urban sketching

Hey, so I thought I’d try my first attempt at urban sketching.it’s a very rough one though..I’ve basically drawn an element of my journey to work each day on the train. I really want to improve on these as I think that’d help with some of the things I really want to draw….but here it is. I hope it’s okay.

It’s basically the first thing I see in Winchester every morning.

Roy Hodgson

Hey, so I’ve been working in Winchester and randomly decided to take a late break…Pleased I did though! As I left my office, turned right and noticed a familiar face….I muttered “woy!” and I thought I knew who it was and as I got a bit closer, I said “Hello Mr Hodson”, he replied “hello”…And, that, frankly, made my day. The former England Football Manager saying hello to me was quite nice….so naturally, I thought “right, I’ve got a new subject to draw now!” and here you go, my portrait of the man himself, the current Crystal Palace manager and former Blackburn, Fulham, Malmo and England Manager Roy Hodgson (his hair is pretty much white now though).

Okay, it’s not 100% done yet but I thought I’d pop up what I’m currently working on.

Good Morning 2019!

Hi everyone so I did decide to ink in the sound II sculpture and I think it looks a lot better to be honest. It’s also prompted me to work a bit on my cross contour lines using pen and I’ll insert both below to show you what I mean.

I think it looks better than the rough pencil sketch anyhow.

And this led me to think about cross contours with pen and ink and my notes (along with an ear example, I’ve included below:

As you can see, I did a few notes initially in pencil and then some in pen but I’ll think I’ll continue working on this as cross-contour lines are really important in drawing.
