Hey, so further adventures in drawing….well, I’m stuck in bed, I have a couple of books but I thought I’d look at some web imagery and tutorials and as mentioned before, I am a bit of a wrestling fan….so I’ve drawn one of the greats in the wwe…John Cena and…..here he is…
So, as promised, after spending most of the day in hospital waiting for and operation tomorrow, I’ve finally gotten around to uploading the drawing I did this morning in the park outside my apartment…..I hope you like it as I’ve used a little bit of artistic license on bits here and there…..Did I mention Alan Shearer was married in this church?
Hey, so I’ve been working in Winchester and randomly decided to take a late break…Pleased I did though! As I left my office, turned right and noticed a familiar face….I muttered “woy!” and I thought I knew who it was and as I got a bit closer, I said “Hello Mr Hodson”, he replied “hello”…And, that, frankly, made my day. The former England Football Manager saying hello to me was quite nice….so naturally, I thought “right, I’ve got a new subject to draw now!” and here you go, my portrait of the man himself, the current Crystal Palace manager and former Blackburn, Fulham, Malmo and England Manager Roy Hodgson (his hair is pretty much white now though).
Okay, it’s not 100% done yet but I thought I’d pop up what I’m currently working on.
So I heard if you draw random squiggles with a pen you can create some interesting portraits and yeah…I agree, I think this ended up pretty cool…if a little scary…Looks a bit like my grandmother actually 😮
Hey, so I really liked the look of the technique known as stippling….using dots to describe light and dark areas. It’s really interesting to me as I have a couple of degrees in IT and, of course, printers and imagery are judged by “dots per inch”. So I thought I’d continue working on this as I’ve seen skyline pictures I’ve drawn and thought “bugger, stippling would be perfect for that! So I’ve included a few of my notes which might come in handy.
Kia Ora! So have you been to New Zealand? If not, why the devil not? Go! It’s beautiful!…Seriously, I love the place and return as often as I can and whenever I’m in Auckland, I stay in Mount Eden near the All Backs home stadium of Eden Park. Now, outside the ground there are loads of statues and sculptures but one always catches my attention. It’s of Michael Jones almost defying gravity by flying through the air to grab the ball…which is amazing….and…well….I have a new thin pen so I thought I’d try a quick pen and ink of him….
